Roma Downey Stars in Novelist Karen Kingsbury’s ‘The Baxters’ TV Series

Today Ms. Kingsbury and Ms. Downey are very close. They text each other frequently.
Ted McGinley plays Ms. Downey’s husband, John Baxter, in the series and Ms. Downey’s daughter, Reilly Anspaugh, is cast as Erin Baxter.
Ms. Anspaugh graduated from Boston University and performed at the Boston New Repertory Theatre before being cast in 48 episodes of “Geoffrey the Dumbass.”
Although “The Baxters” is a Christian-themed series, the show touches on modern topics, such as adultery, interracial relationships, addiction, and divorce.
For example, one of the Baxter daughters named Kari, played by Ali Cobrin, is confronted with her husband, Tim Jacobs, portrayed by Brandon Hirsch, cheating on her with one of his students at the university where he teaches.  The episode is about discovering whether love is a choice and if a marriage can be saved.
In addition to acting in the TV series, Ms. Downey is also an executive producer.
Ms. Kingsbury’s novels, “The Bridge,” “A Time to Dance,” and “Maggie’s Christmas Miracle” are all being developed into Hallmark Channel movies.
